Who We Are
The concept for Labgems began in 2014 when Leonardo Maranhão evaluated gemstones in close cooperation with the University of Fortaleza (UFC)
The PADETEC Institute (a part of UFC) and its president, Prof. Dr. Afranio Aragao Craveiro and his colleague, Prof. Dr. Mariano Castello Branco, geologist and head of the Geophysics Laboratory, worked with Leonardo Maranhão to establish a technical laboratory at the PADETEC Institute. The PADETEC Institute is one of the most reputable institutions in South America.
Labgems was established as a private commercial appraising company and has close ties with the PADETEC Institute, giving Labgems immediate access to the upper echelon of experts and the most advanced modern equipment.

Labgems was established as an appraising firm for the industrial and commercial gemstone industry. We provide high-end evaluation and appraisal work for Brazil’s largest gemstone mining operators.
With peerless expertise and sophisticated equipment, Labgems can create valuations with less than a two percent margin of error. Since its formation, Labgems has expanded into the international industry – including cut and polish services on-site in Brazil, Thailand, and India.
